Alaska Airlines
A dual-brand design system built to empower Alaska Airlines' content design & development team.
Borealis components on the homepage
I built out numerous navigational components for the new homepage launch of Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines, including the brand bar, header, header menus, and drawer menu.

Building components
Components were built to cover numerous use cases as well as desktop and mobile web variants.

Component building blocks
The Borealis team would design the hover, focus, disabled and any other necessary state for all components and sub-components necessary.

Multi-brand theming
All components had to work across three brands: Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Atmos Rewards.

Developer handoff
Developers received comprehensive documentation during handoff including annotations on: accessibility, tab-order, token usage, interactive behavior, in-context examples, and more.

Design tokens
Design tokens were an integral part of all components within Borealis, allowing theming across multiple brands. Tokens were used across the board with color, typography, spacing and foundational design system elements.

Developer review
Developers would send PR reviews with Storybook links so that I could review the built components and ensure accuracy prior to pushing live.
